“JD is an advocate for disenfranchised members of our community, and he has an immense and diverse range of professional and volunteer experience. Both qualities make him well suited and competent to serve as an effective Arlington County Board member.

Over the years I have had the chance to get to know JD as a classmate in Leadership Arlington and through mutual collaborations when he served as the president of the NAACP, and I served as the president of the Arlington Rotary Club. Be it in the boardroom, classroom or living room, JD is constantly advocating for those whose voices otherwise go unheard and he refuses to accept the inequities of the status quo.

Specifically, I would like to highlight his work as a member of the board of directors of The Dream Project. In this capacity JD has helped countless immigrant students gain access to higher education through scholarships. I have met some of these students and it is difficult to convey the life-changing impact these scholarships have on the trajectory of their lives. JD’s work helps make these students’ dreams possible.

Moreover, when considering JD’s extensive qualifications, an assessment of his experience speaks for itself. In addition to his experience as a human resources executive, he has served as a congressional fellow, an international diplomat, and as a marine corps combat veteran. JD’s resume is rock solid.
