Deep and broad experience in Arlington matters as we choose a nominee for the Arlington County Board. J.D. Spain, Sr. has been a community leader on many fronts: local organizations, education policy, his entire career. While many in Arlington know JD from his two terms as president of the Arlington Branch of the NAACP, his service goes much further. He has served on the County Civil Service Commission, the board of the Dream Project, the Sierra Club and civic associations, and more. In addition to understanding these groups and communities, JD values diversity in Arlington and reaches out to know what the issues are. His 26 years of service in the U.S. Marines, including assignments with NATO in Brussels, at the Pentagon and in the U.S. Senate, give him insight into an important constituency in Arlington – our military and veterans.

Arlington will benefit from J.D.’s broad range of experiences and understanding of our various communities as he focuses on engaging all our communities. JD is my #1 choice and I hope that he will be yours, too.
